Employer Resources: Contingency or Retained
Kimmel & Associates has always performed both Retained and Contingent searches.
All searches, whether performed as a Retained or a Contingency basis, require that Kimmel & Associates has a thorough understanding of the scope of work to be performed by the ideal candidate. All successful searches require an understanding of our clients' methods, organizational structure, and company culture. The ideal candidate not only has the technical and interpersonal skills to do the job as required, but also enjoys the methods, structure and culture of our clients.
Retained searches are utilized to secure candidates for C-Level leadership positions, confidential replacements, and high priority needs. These situations require more up-front due diligence and commitment of Kimmel & Associates' resources. For this reason, we ask for a retainer to ensure that our client's commitment to the search is congruent with our commitment.
Retained searches are usually for Senior Leadership positions. These candidates need to not only fit into the culture of our client company, they must to be able to LEAD the company and help transform, train, and create buy-in into the culture of the company. For this reason, the vetting process is more detailed, and requires more extensive consideration than the middle management and junior level roles typically sought during a Contingent Search. Also, in these searches, the Executive Leadership of our client companies takes a more active role. The Retainer is viewed as a small price to pay so that we can commit our resources to a thorough screening process. Our Client's Executive Leadership's time is always of greater value than the cost of the retainer.
